Installation & requirements

Requirements#

  • WordPress 6.0 or later
  • PHP 8.2 or later
  • No build step: the plugin doesn't need Composer or Node on your server, it ships ready to run

Installing the plugin#

  1. Upload the ultivo folder to /wp-content/plugins/.
  2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu.

On first activation, the setup wizard opens automatically. See Setup wizard for what it asks and why.

Where to find things in the admin#

Everything lives under the single Ultivo Toolkit menu item in the admin sidebar:

  • Dashboard: what's active, and shortcuts to the things you add most
  • Custom Fields: build and manage field groups
  • Forms: build front-end forms from the same field builder
  • Snippets (Pro): PHP, CSS, JavaScript and HTML snippets, with conditions and revisions. Not present in the free version
  • Settings: turn features on and off, and reset configuration
  • Enhancements: the utility modules
  • SEO: titles, descriptions, Open Graph and the sitemap
  • Tools: a tab inside Custom Fields, for export/import and ACF migration

Sections that have sub-pages show them in a second row of tabs: Custom Fields has Field Groups, Post Types, Taxonomies, Options Pages and Tools; Forms has Entries, Integrations and SMTP; Enhancements shows a tab for every module that has its own screen.

Every Ultivo Toolkit screen carries the same bar at the very top: the product name on the left, and on the right Documentation, Support and (on the free version) Upgrade to Pro. Those never change as you move around; the tabs below them show where you are.

At the bottom of each of those screens the footer repeats Documentation, Support and Feedback, and lists the versions you're running: WordPress, PHP and Ultivo Toolkit. The copy button next to that line puts it on your clipboard. Paste it into a support message and the first three questions are already answered.

Updating#

Ultivo Toolkit updates through the standard WordPress plugin updater, no separate process. Check /changelog for what changed in each release before updating a production site.
